LITTLE MOUNTAIN, S.C. — The Screaming Eagles’ special needs athletics sports complex called “The Nest” is making lots of progress.

For the last two months, the nonprofit has posted many updates to its Facebook page and shared photos.

The posts explain that they’ve been digging and trenching to run electrical wiring and setting posts for fencing. They’ve also installed a scoreboard and pavilion.

“We said we would love to be involved in whatever capacity we can, and so this opportunity came up,” said Caroline Lindler, CFO of Chapin Commercial Construction. “They were looking for donations to build the pavilion right there by the baseball field and we thought it was a great opportunity for us to help them and bring awareness to the organization.”

Lindler said they’ve supported the project since its inception about two years ago.

“We feel strongly about giving back where we can, especially when children are involved,” Lindler said. “But also, we know that we have even a small social media presence, and we wanted to bring awareness to the Screaming Eagles. So by sharing our donation with our followers and people that we know, we’re hoping that others will be led to contribute and donate to such an amazing cause.”

She said this complex, once finished, will provide a space for children young and old.

“They’re giving them a safe space where people can interact with them and not feel uncomfortable, and that road goes both ways,” Lindler said.

In addition, the nonprofit announced Friday that Correct Craft, a Midlands manufacturing company, is sponsoring a four-day service trip this summer for 100 volunteers to help with The Nest’s projects.
